Enlightenment Mountain Run : Angel Fire Resort, New Mexico

The Enlightenment Mountain Run is a two-day trailrunning event at Angel Fire Resort held the weekend of August 15, 2026. The event uses the Enlightenment Trail to reach the resort summit from a start/finish area at the base of the Chile Express lift. The route is singletrack and climbs roughly 2,000 feet to the summit, with yellow flagging and directional signage marking the course.

Distances offered:

  • The Ascent - 5.2 miles uphill on singletrack
  • Mountain Classic - 10.4 miles up and down the same route

On the first day, participants follow the uphill Enlightenment Trail to the summit and may ride the lift back down. The second day uses the same uphill route followed by a run back to the start/finish area. Race headquarters are located at Angel Fire Resort, which provides trail access, parking areas, lodging options including a resort lodging discount for stays of two nights or more, and nearby camping for a per-night fee.

Organizers conduct trail maintenance before the event and sweep the course afterward to remove trash and preserve trail condition. Registration closes August 12.
