Enlightenment Mountain Run

Enlightenment Mountain Run is a two-day trail running event at Angel Fire Resort in the Moreno Valley, New Mexico, held August 15 and 16, 2026. The event uses the Enlightenment Trail and follows the same uphill route both days.

Saturday is an ascent-only format covering 5 miles to the summit, with the option to return on the resort lift. Sunday is a 10 mile Mountain Classic that repeats the uphill section and then continues with a downhill singletrack return to the start/finish. Participants may enter either day separately or complete both days for a combined result and a unique prize awarded after Sunday.

The course climbs roughly 2,000 feet and ranges from about 8,600 to 10,600 feet in elevation. Trail surface is primarily singletrack with rocks, roots and multiple lookout points. The route has permanent blazes supplemented by yellow confidence flagging and ground arrows. Typical weather is sunny with the possibility of afternoon storms and cooler temperatures at higher elevations.

Aid at the start/finish includes water, Tailwind and basic nutrition; the summit aid station supplies water, Tailwind and gummy bears. No cups are provided; participants should bring a personal hydration vessel. Dogs are not permitted on course. Hiking is allowed and generous finish windows are provided. Packet pickup is located on the deck below the resort lift. Angel Fire Resort offers discounted lodging for registered participants and primitive camping near race headquarters for a fee.

Awards include custom laser engraved finishers awards and overall prizes in Male, Female, Non Binary, and Masters categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
