Event overview

The Bull of the Woods Trail Races take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico (116 Sutton Place, Taos Ski Valley, NM 87525). The race weekend includes three events:

Course details and logistics

The races use high-country single-track and service roads through alpine forests, meadows, and overlooks, with a starting elevation near 10,000 ft. Key high points are Kachina Peak at 12,481 ft (TSV half / marathon course) and Fraser Peak at 12,163 ft (Northside half / marathon course). The TSV half contains multiple segments with steep, technical climbs and descents, including a 1.9-mile alpine climb gaining about 1,300 ft to Kachina Peak and a 1.4-mile descent dropping about 1,200 ft. The Kachina Peak course mentions over 7,000 feet of total climbing. The Northside half follows primarily tight single-track bike trails, mixed two-track roads, and an alpine loop to Fraser Peak, with some road sections that cross village roads where vehicle awareness is noted. Aid stations are listed on course. Volunteers are coordinated by the Enchanted Circle Trails Association, and a portion of event proceeds support regional trail work.
