Course and terrain

All courses are high-country mountain trail routes that begin at about 10,000 ft and use primarily single-track trails, alpine forests, meadows, overlooks, and service roads. The TSV Half Marathon and the marathon route climb to Kachina Peak at 12,481 ft via steep, rocky, and technical sections, including named segments with documented distances and elevation changes. The Northside Half Marathon includes village dirt roads, the Gold Camp Trail, a series of single-track bike trails, a summit at Bull of the Woods Mountain, and an alpine loop to Fraser Peak at 12,163 ft on Trail 90. The full marathon follows the TSV half course first, then continues onto the Northside half for the full 26 mile distance. Course descriptions note several aid stations, areas of steep ascent and descent, narrow single track, and sections where competitors re-enter village roads with vehicle awareness advised.
