Bull of the Woods Trail Races

Bull of the Woods Trail Races take place in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, and include multiple trail race distances across alpine terrain. The event offers two separate half marathons, one full marathon, and a new 10K course.

Courses run largely on single-track through alpine forests, meadows, and overlooks beginning around 10,000 ft. The Full Marathon and the TSV Half Marathon include an ascent to Kachina Peak at 12,481 ft. The Full Marathon then continues onto the Northside trail system and reaches Fraser Peak at 12,163 ft. The Kachina Peak route includes more than 7,000 feet of climbing and ridge sections on Highline and West Basin Ridges followed by long descents.

The Northside Half Marathon follows primarily tight single-track on the Northside trail system and features exposed trail views and winding sections. The new 10K course begins with roughly 1.2 km on mountain roads to the base of Lift 8, then continues on singletrack to the finish and includes close to 2,000 ft of elevation gain.

Volunteer coordination is handled by the Enchanted Circle Trails Association, and a portion of event proceeds supports regional trail development and maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
