Bull Of The Woods Trail Races

The Bull Of The Woods Trail Races take place in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, marking its tenth year of operation in 2026. The event offers four distinct distances focused on high-altitude mountain running within the alpine forests and meadows of Northern New Mexico. The courses primarily utilize tight single-track trails and provide views of the Wheeler Peak Wilderness, La-Cal Basin, Lobo Peak, and Gold Hill.

Available race distances include:

  • Full Marathon (26 Miles)
  • TSV Half Marathon (13 Miles)
  • Northside Half Marathon (13 Miles)
  • 10K TSV Trail Race

The Full Marathon and the TSV Half Marathon courses include a climb to Kachina Peak at 12,481 feet. This section is characterized by "sky"-style high-alpine running and steep ascents. The marathon distance continues onto the Northside trail system, where participants climb Fraser Peak at 12,168 feet, accumulating over 7,000 feet of total elevation gain throughout the race.

The Northside Half Marathon utilizes the Northside trail system, focusing on secluded single-track paths and a climb to Fraser Peak. The 10K TSV Trail Race incorporates approximately 1.2 kilometers of mountain roads leading to the base of Lift 8, followed by single-track trails to the finish, with an elevation gain of nearly 2,000 feet. All races start at an elevation of approximately 10,000 feet. A portion of the event proceeds supports the Enchanted Circle Trails Association for regional trail maintenance.
