Bull Of The Woods Trail Races

Bull of the Woods Trail Races take place in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico on 09/05/2026 and marks the event's tenth year. The race weekend offers multiple trail distances that use the Taos Ski Valley trail systems and high-country single-track.

  • 26 Miles Full Marathon
  • 13 Miles TSV Half Marathon
  • 13 Miles Northside Half Marathon
  • 10K NEW 10K TSV Trail Race

Courses run primarily on single-track trails through alpine forests, meadows, and overlooks, beginning around 10,000 ft elevation. The TSV half and the full marathon include a climb to Kachina Peak at 12,481 ft; the Northside half and the marathon include a climb to Fraser Peak at 12,163 ft. The full marathon combines the Kachina Peak section with the Northside trail system, spanning the Taos Ski Valley and providing views of Wheeler Peak Wilderness, La Cal Basin, Lobo Peak, Gold Hill, and Wheeler Peak.

The new 10K route begins with about 1.2 km on mountain roads to the base of Lift 8, then continues on singletrack with roughly 2,000 ft of elevation gain. Trails include high alpine ridges and steep ascents followed by descending singletrack routes. Volunteers are coordinated by the Enchanted Circle Trails Association and a portion of event proceeds supports regional trail development and maintenance.
