Bull of the Woods Trail Races - Taos Ski Valley, NM

The Bull of the Woods Trail Races take place on September 5, 2026 at Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. The event program includes multiple trail distances run on resort and backcountry terrain within the Taos Ski Valley venue.

  • Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
  • TSV Half Marathon (about 13.1 miles)
  • Northside Half Marathon (about 13.1 miles)
  • 10K TSV Trail Race (10 kilometers)

Courses start near 10,000 feet and travel through alpine forests, meadows, overlooks, and single-track trails. The Kachina Peak route climbs to about 12,481 ft and the Northside route reaches about 12,163 ft. The Kachina Peak course includes steep, rocky alpine sections and more than 7,000 feet of climbing on parts of the marathon route. The Northside half follows a mix of village dirt roads, two-track roads, and narrow single-track bike trails with alpine loops to Fraser Mountain.

The new 10K course begins with roughly 1.2 kilometers on mountain roads to the base of Lift 8, then continues on singletrack to the finish with close to 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Aid stations and marked segments are used on several sections. Volunteers for the event are coordinated by the Enchanted Circle Trails Association, and a portion of proceeds supports regional trail development and maintenance.
