Enchanted Forest Trail Races

The Enchanted Forest Trail Races take place in Red River, New Mexico on July 25, 2026. Races start and finish at Brandenburg Park in downtown Red River and follow routes through Carson National Forest and the Enchanted Forest cross-country ski area. Courses mix unpaved singletrack, double track, jeep roads and short paved sections, and include sections that have no defined trail where tree markings guide runners.

Distances offered:

  • Marathon - ~26.6 miles, ~3,898 ft elevation gain, max ~10,289 ft
  • Heavy Half Marathon - ~14.5 miles, ~1,988 ft elevation gain, max ~10,026 ft
  • The Face Challenge - ~7.1 miles, ~1,824 ft elevation gain, max ~10,268 ft

Aid stations provide ice water, sports gels, potato chips, Skittle, and Precision electrolyte drink. Cups are not provided. Stations have radio contact and basic medical supplies. Dogs on leash are allowed at the Start/Finish and aid stations but are not permitted on course with runners.

Awards include customized finisher mementos at the finish and placers awards at ceremonies. Top three male and female finishers in age groups Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+ receive awards; overall winners receive comp entries for next year. Entry fees cover awards, race apparel, aid station supplies, finisher mementos, and post-race refreshments.
