Empire Ranch Trail Run : January 24, 2026

The Empire Ranch Trail Run is scheduled for January 24, 2026, at Empire Ranch in the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area near Sonoita, Arizona (about 50 miles southeast of Tucson). The event is produced in partnership between the Empire Ranch Foundation and Run Tucson and will raise funds for the Empire Ranch Foundation to support protection, restoration, and stewardship of the ranch buildings and landscape. Registration is capped at 500 total participants.

Course, features, and logistics

The course uses a combination of dirt trails, BLM 2-track, cattle paths, and Empire Ranch lands. Organizers note cattle may be present. The planned route is generally described as a "green" in technical difficulty, with some rocky sections and rolling hills. Dogs are not permitted on the running courses. The course is not suitable for chair athletes and may be difficult for visually impaired athletes. There is on-site parking at the Empire Ranch.
