The Course and Location
The event takes place at 16655 E Empire Ranch Rd in Sonoita, AZ. The course is described as a combination of dirt trails, BLM 2-track, cattle paths, and Empire Ranch lands. The terrain includes some rocky sections and rolling hills, with a "green" technical rating. The event notes that cows may be present on the course.
This course is not suitable for chair athletes and the rugged nature may make it difficult for visually impaired athletes. Dogs are not permitted on the running courses. There is on-site parking available at the ranch.

The event is produced by Run Tucson in partnership with the Empire Ranch Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management. It is noted as the first-ever running event held at the Historic Empire Ranch on the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.
The event includes ranch activities such as branding demonstrations, a discussion about movies filmed at the ranch, leather bag lacing for kids, reata making, roping, a saddle selfie station, and plein air painting.
