Empire Ranch Trail Run : January 24, 2026
The Empire Ranch Trail Run is the inaugural run/walk event at the Historic Empire Ranch in the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area, held on January 24, 2026 in Sonoita, AZ (16655 E Empire Ranch Rd). The event is produced by Run Tucson in partnership with the Empire Ranch Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management. It is capped at 500 total registrants and raises funds for the Empire Ranch Foundation to protect, restore, and sustain the ranch buildings and landscape.
Events, course and on-site details
The event includes the following distances:
- 10k Run
- 5k Run/Walk
- 1 mile Family Walk/Run and a Children’s Mile (14-and-under)
The course uses a combination of dirt trails, BLM 2-track, cattle paths, and Empire Ranch lands. Organizers note some rocky sections and rolling hills; the planned trail is generally classified as "green" for technical difficulty. Cattle may be present on course. The route is not suitable for chair athletes and may be very difficult for visually impaired athletes. Dogs are not permitted on the running courses. There is parking on site. Race features include a souvenir shirt, age-group and overall awards, post-race snacks, and timed runs with finisher videos.
