Event Overview

The Colossal Vail 50/50 is an ultra run on parts of the Arizona Trail near Vail, southeast of Tucson. It starts and finishes at Colossal Cave Mountain Park. The courses use sections of the Arizona National Scenic Trail between Saguaro National Park and the Santa Rita Mountains foothills.

Course and Distances

There are three race distances:

  • 50 Mile
  • 55K
  • Half-Marathon The course was designed as a relatively fast trail ultra on rolling, gentle terrain.

Event Features

The event is cupless to reduce environmental impact. Runners must bring their own cup or purchase a reusable one. The event includes aid stations, emergency communications, event swag, and finish line food. The 50 Mile race is the first event in the Southern Arizona Triple 50 series.
