The event operates cupless; collapsible reusable cups are available for purchase at packet pickup.

Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each event. Every ultra finisher receives an engraved railroad spike and half marathon finishers receive a wooden finisher award. Registration discounts are available for Arizona Trail Association members, military veterans, Native Americans, and youth under 18, and discounts exist for those registering for both half-marathons. No refunds are issued, though partial registration credit transfers are permitted under the stated policy.

Africanized bees can be prevalent in some years; participants with bee sting allergies are advised to bring appropriate medication. Lodging is available in nearby Tucson and Vail, and camping is available near the start and finish area. Proceeds benefit the Arizona Trail Association.
