Ed Poling Memorial HARC Hike for Hunger & Hope
The HARC Hike for Hunger & Hope is a non-competitive fundraising event that supports HARC programs, with significant proceeds directed to Micah’s Backpack and the Refugee Welcome Network. The event includes two main offerings in May 2026: the Challenge Hike on May 16 and community hikes on May 30 along the C&O Canal towpath in Williamsport.
Features common to the hikes include scenic water views, supported aid stations with water, Gatorade refills and snacks, and a post-hike celebration lunch at Zion Lutheran Church. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation; virtual participants may complete their chosen distance on any date before the event.
Challenge Hike details:
- Challenge Hike: 20 miles on Appalachian Trail or 10 miles option
- 5K and 10K: on the C&O Canal towpath in Williamsport
The Challenge Hike is a one-way route with transportation provided back to participants' vehicles and on-trail support including a light breakfast and a hearty lunch. Registrations have deadlines and associated fundraising or donation options for reduced fees; the Challenge Hike includes a special t-shirt and a Certificate of Completion with a group photo. Participants who finish the full 20-mile hike are listed on the event Wall of Fame.
Check-in location for the C&O Canal hikes: Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W Potomac St, Williamsport, MD 21795. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
