Event Details

The Earth Day 50k/15 Mile/5 Mile will be held on April 18, 2026. It takes place at Veteran Acres park in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The event offers three distances: 50K, 15 Miler, and 5 Miler. All races start together.

Course Information

The course runs on single-track trails with rolling hills. It is described as a 5-mile loop. There is one major aid station at the start/finish line offering typical ultra food and drinks. The event is working towards being "landfill free," so participants are asked to bring their own water bottle. Runners have 8 hours to complete the race.

Awards

Awards are given for the 1st Overall Male and Female. Age group awards for men and women are in the following categories: Under 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Awards are only given for the distance a runner is registered for.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Ornery Mule Racing headquarters in Crystal Lake. Race day packet pickup begins at 6:30 am at a pavilion near the main parking lot.

Registration Policies

Registration closes on April 10. Early bird pricing is available until November 30. The event has a rollover policy for entries: a full rollover is possible if notified 70 days before the event, and a 50% race credit is available if notified 25 days before. No refunds are issued.
