Summer Trail Classic : Paul Douglas Forest Preserve
The Summer Trail Classic is a trail running event held at Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It is the third of four events in the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series and benefits the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers (CAMBr).
Participants may choose from three distances:
- Approx 4 miles
- Approx 9.5 miles
- Approx 13 miles
Walking-only participants are permitted only on the 4 mile course. Course support will be removed at 12:00 Noon and the trail will be closed at 11:00am. There are three water stations along the course; participants are advised to carry their own liquids and nourishment for their chosen distance.
Trail protocol requires calling out "on your left" when passing and passing on the left. Fully over-ear headphones or two earbuds/pods are not allowed; at least one ear must remain open. Runners who find an injured person should stop to assist and notify race officials.
Registered participants receive a Leslie Jordan running vest; vest sizes cannot be exchanged after ordering. Awards include engraved wood awards for overall male and female champions and age-group awards across listed categories. Entry includes automatic raffle entry; winners must be present to claim prizes. Official finish times and places are available at the event via the QR code on race bibs.
