Summer Trail Classic

The Summer Trail Classic takes place on August 23, 2026, at Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It is the third of four events in the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series and benefits the Chicago Area Mountain Bikers.

Participants can choose from the following course options:

  • Approximate 4 miles
  • Approximate 9.5 miles
  • Approximate 13 miles

The event uses natural surface single-track trails at the preserve. The Forest Preserve may close trails when they are wet; if the trails are deemed unusable the course can be moved to the preserve bike path. The trail will be closed at 11:00am and course support will be removed at 12:00 Noon. There are three water stations along the courses but carrying personal fluids and nourishment is recommended.

Registered participants receive a Leslie Jordan running vest. Bib pick up is available the day before at Dick Pond Athletics and on race morning at the site. Awards include engraved wood trophies for overall male and female winners and age group awards for a range of age categories. All entries receive automatic raffle entry; winners must be present to claim prizes. One male and one female in each age group will be randomly selected to receive a pair of Darn Tough socks.

Race protocols include announcing when passing, stopping to assist injured participants, and a ban on fully over ear headphones or two earbuds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
