Summer Trail Classic
The Summer Trail Classic is a trail running event on August 23, 2026 at Paul Douglas Forest Preserve in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Participants can choose from the following approximate distances:
- 4 miles
- 9.5 miles
- 13 miles
The course uses twisting single-track trails within the preserve. The event is the third of four races in the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series. If the preserve trails are deemed unusable after rain, the event may be moved to the preserve's asphalt bike path.
Course protocol requires runners to announce passes by calling out "on your left!" and to pass on the left. Fully over-ear headphones or two earbuds/pods are not allowed; at least one ear must be uncovered. The trail will be closed mid-morning and support on all courses is removed at 12:00 Noon. There are three water stations along the course, and participants are advised to carry their own fluids as needed. Walking-only participation is permitted on the 4 mile distance.
Registered participants receive a Leslie Jordan Running Vest; vest sizes cannot be exchanged after ordering. Awards include engraved wood trophies for overall male and female champions and age-group awards for top finishers. A raffle entry is included with registration and results are available via the QR code on the race bib.
