Soul Crusher is an organized trail race in Crystal Lake, Illinois, offering two distance options. The event takes place in Veteran Acres and Sternes Woods and uses single-track trails that form an approximate 5-mile loop, with an option that covers about 10 miles.

The course route includes sections with occasional bonus mileage. Colored flags mark paths in the park to help runners reach the start area and follow the course. The start line is located inside the park and participants should allow about a 30 minute walk from the main parking area to the start line. Parking is available at the main parking lot, 431 Walkup Rd, Crystal Lake, IL 60012.

Logistics include packet pickup on Friday evening at the Ornery Mule Trailhead, 824 S. Main Street #102, and on the morning of the race at Veteran Acres. The race is cup-less; participants are advised to carry a water bottle or hydration vest. A 3 hour and 30 minute time cutoff is in effect for the event.

Trail runs nearby

Trail 5K and a children's 1/4 mile at Kishwauketoe Nature Center in Williams Bay. The grass trail course passes through hills, woods and prairie, includes a water stop, parking across the street, and awards for top finishers.

The Kishwauketoe 5K will take place in Williams Bay on Saturday 4 July 2026. You can run 3 miles.

The Casual Hikers 10K will take place in La Grange on Saturday 1 August 2026. You can run 10 kilometers.

Continuous 3.1 miles loop race at Deer Grove East offering 40 or 50 mile options with a 12 hour cutoff. Centralized aid every lap, designated crew access, pacers allowed, and on-course medical support.
