Event Overview
Run the Rails is an annual running event organized by the Elburn Parks Commission. Held in Elburn, Illinois, the race provides several distance options to accommodate different preferences. All scheduled courses begin and end at Prairie Park, located near North Street and 3rd Street.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 1-Mile Fun Run
- 4-Mile Run
- 7-Mile Run
The 4-mile and 7-mile routes feature a crossing over the Union Pacific West rail line via the Anderson Road bridge. This elevation provides views of the Elburn area and the local countryside.
Technical Details and Registration
The event utilizes a disposable chip timing system for all distances. Timing tags are attached to the back of the race bib, which must be worn on the front of the runner's clothing. Individuals who register by August 11 are guaranteed a commemorative tank top or racerback.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall in the 4-mile and 7-mile races. Age group awards are also distributed across various categories starting from 9 and under up to 70 and older. In the 1-mile event, participants aged 1-12 receive a medal upon completion.
