Run the Rails : Elburn, IL
Run the Rails is an event presented by the Elburn Parks Commission on August 22, 2026, at Prairie Park (North and 3rd Street) in Elburn, Illinois. The event benefits the Elburn Parks Commission and offers three race distances for participants.
Distances
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- 4-Mile Run
- 7-Mile Run
All races start and finish at Prairie Park (3rd and North Street, near the library). The 4- and 7-mile courses cross the Union Pacific West rail line via the Anderson Road bridge, providing views of Elburn and the surrounding countryside.
Race timing uses a disposable chip timing tag attached to the back of the race bib. Runners must wear bibs on the front of their clothing so the chip reads correctly; bending the chip or covering the bib can prevent accurate timing. Smart watches and smartphones can interfere with the chip signal and timing disputes based on those devices will not be considered.
Packet pick-up is available before race day and on race day. Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled Thursday, August 20 at Pro Fusion, 31 N 2nd St, Geneva, IL (4:00 pm–7:00 pm), and Friday, August 21 at Knight Club Nutrition, 99 E North Street, Elburn, IL (9:30 am–3:00 pm). Walk-in registration is available at packet pick-up; race day registration incurs an additional fee.
Awards: all 1 Mile Fun Run participants age 1-12 receive a medal. For the 4- and 7-mile races awards go to the top three male and female overall and the top three male and female in age groups 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & older.
Swag: racerback and tank top availability is limited; registration by August 11, 2026 guarantees a racerback or tank at packet pickup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
