Run the Rails : Elburn, IL

Run the Rails is a community road race presented by the Elburn Parks Commission on August 22, 2026. Races start and finish at Prairie Park (North Street and 3rd Street) in Elburn, Illinois. The event benefits the Elburn Parks Commission.

The program includes these distances:

  • 1 mile fun run/walk
  • 4 mile run
  • 7 mile run

Course routes cross the Union Pacific West rail line via the Anderson Road bridge and offer views of Elburn and nearby countryside. The event uses a disposable chip timing tag attached to the back of race bibs; participants must wear bibs on the front of their clothing for accurate timing. Smart watches and phones can interfere with chip timing.

Packet pickup takes place before race day at two local locations: Pro Fusion (31 N 2nd St, Geneva) and Knight Club Nutrition (99 E North Street, Elburn). Walk-in registration is available at packet pickup; race day registration carries an additional fee. To guarantee a racerback or tank top at packet pickup, registrations must be completed by August 11, 2026.

Awards: all participants age 1–12 in the 1-mile fun run receive a medal. For the 4- and 7-mile races, awards go to the top three male and female overall and to top three male and female in age-group divisions from 9 & under through 70 and older.
