Dizzy Fifties - Monte Sano State Park

Dizzy Fifties is a looped trail event held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL and organized by the Huntsville Track Club. The 2026 edition is the 23rd running and includes three distance options on a figure-8-style "big" loop of roughly 10 miles and about 1,000 ft of climbing per loop. The total elevation gain for the 50K is about 3,000 ft.

Distance options

  • 50K : three big loops
  • 20 Mile : two big loops
  • 10 Mile : one big loop

The course uses South Plateau Loop, Firetower, Family Bike Trail, Logan-Keith, and the Sinks climb; it passes the pavilion near mile 6.4. Runners must check in at the finish arch after each 10-mile loop. One fully stocked aid station will be at the pavilion with water, sodas, and food; participants receive a reusable cup as part of race swag because the event is cupless. Aid access: five opportunities for the 50K, three for the 20 Mile, and one for the 10 Mile. Medical support is provided by HEMSI.

Other logistics and rules include a 200-runner cap, limited parking with a request to carpool, strict bib rules (visible on the front; no transfers), no drop-down finishes for alternative distance results, and prohibitions on bicycles, strollers, pets, roller skates, and skateboards. Registration opens July 1, 2026; registrants who register by October 16 can guarantee shirt size. The start/finish location is John Scoble Memorial Pavilion.
