Dirty Day - Obstacle challenge

Dirty Day is a special-edition Rat Race event produced in partnership with Forest Facility at the Burghley Estate area near Stamford. The event uses a specially extended 4 mile loop that features around 60 obstacles, including restored classics such as the big water jump, lake swim with buoyancy aids and safety paddlers, underground tunnels and an Ewok village.

Adults may choose to complete one or two laps of the 4 mile loop. Teens aged 13 to 17 can take part on the 4 mile course. A separate family wave offers a shortened 1.5 mile lap suitable for children aged 6 and up, with a special group price for parties of four (minimum one adult). Participants can also complete multiple laps to aim for longer distances, including an option to reach 20 miles for a retro medal.

Forest Facility will run additional on-site activities on the same day, such as zip wires, axe throwing, archery, laser tag, mini tanks and family treasure hunts. The event is untimed and not a race; medical cover will include paramedics, doctors and a dedicated ambulance. On-site facilities include parking (priced at 5 GBP per car), local catering, hot drinks, composting and portable toilets, limited changing rooms and a valuables drop for keys and phones only. Proceeds from Dirty Day contribute to Project Jungle to help purchase and protect rainforest land in Central America; over 100k GBP has been raised so far toward the 2026 target.
