Devil's Shadow Winter Trail Races take place on January 31, 2026 at Mendon Ponds Park in Honeoye Falls, NY. The event offers the following distances:

• 50k - six laps of the approximately 5.1 mile loop
• 25k - three laps of the approximately 5.1 mile loop
• 5 mile - one lap of the approximately 5.1 mile loop

The course starts and finishes at Hopkins Point Lodge and winds around Devil's Bathtub while avoiding larger hills and road crossings. The race was created in the tradition of Cast a Shadow and does not include a snowshoe option. Devil's Shadow is the third race in the Common Ground Winter Trail Series, organized with FarFetched Enterprises, Goose Adventure Racing, and Doody Runs. For 2026 the event moved to Saturday and added a 25k option.

Logistics, aid, and policies

Race headquarters and the main aid station are at Hopkins Point Lodge, with parking available nearby. The aid station will offer hot apple cider, Skratch hydration, Gu Energy gels, salt potatoes, bone broth, candy, and later soup, bread, beer, and hot chocolate. Headlamps are required when starting a new loop after dark. Registration is a single price with no increases; distance switching, participant transfers, deferrals, and refunds have no associated fees. Refunds are available through January 23, 2026, and deferrals through January 30, 2026. Special arrangements such as early starts or pacers can be requested from the Race Director.
