Delamere Forest Trails

The Delamere Forest trail events take place in a wooded area south-west of Manchester. This location serves as a natural oasis within the agricultural surroundings of the Cheshire Plain. The course is designed to be accessible and features varied terrain including forest paths, grass, and off-road sections.

Participants navigate through several key areas of the forest, including the Blakemere Moss and portions of the Sandstone Trail. The route also ascends Old Pale Hill, which provides panoramic views across the Cheshire countryside. En route support is provided by marshals positioned along the trails.

Distance Options

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 42k: Includes three aid stations and a seven-hour cut-off.
  • 21k: Includes one aid station and a four-hour cut-off.

Logistics and Facilities

Base Camp is located at the Delamere Forest Visitor Centre. Facilities available on-site include a bag drop area, portable toilets, and a kit stall. Food, snacks, and hot drinks are also provided at the finish area.

The event is a cupless race; therefore, runners must carry their own reusable cup or flask as part of the mandatory kit. Mandatory kit is subject to spot checks during bib collection. For transport, the Delamere train station is situated approximately 0.5 miles from the Visitor Centre. Parking is available at the main Visitor Centre and the Whitefield car park, the latter of which requires a one-mile walk to the start line.

Both distances are chip-timed and are registered as UTMB Index and ITRA Indexed races. Walking poles are permitted for use during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
