The Chester Ultra 100 is a 102 miles trail ultramarathon held on Saturday 18 April 2026, with a total ascent of 1590 m. The event is permitted under UK Athletics via the Trail Running Association and offers ITRA and UTMB mountain performance index points. The start and finish venue is Ellesmere Port Sports Village athletics track. Entry is limited to 400 places and the entry fee is £209. The overall cut-off for the event is 32 hours. Competitors must be at least 20 years old and must have completed an ultramarathon of at least 50 miles prior to the event.

Course, checkpoints and logistics

The route uses local trails and towpaths including the Sandstone Trail, the Marches Way beside the River Dee, Helsby Hill, Frodsham, Beeston Castle, Delamere Forest and the Bridgewater Canal. The course is marked and includes 12 checkpoints that provide food and drink, with indoor checkpoints offering hot drinks and pasta or soup at specified locations. Checkpoint cut-offs are strictly enforced.

Support crews have restricted access at certain checkpoints (no support crew at Preston Brook checkpoints and Alvanley). One dropbag is permitted at Frodsham Parish Hall (serving CP6 and CP11). A single pacer is allowed from the halfway point at Frodsham Parish Hall. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes items such as a waterproof coat, 1 litre water capacity, headtorch, backup light, whistle, survival/thermal bag and the issued GPS tracker.
