Chester Ultra 100 Mile

The Chester Ultra 100 is a 102 mile trail ultramarathon in the Chester area, held on Saturday 18 April 2026. The route covers approximately 1590 m of ascent and is waymarked along a mixture of paths and canals, including the Sandstone Trail, the Marches Way beside the River Dee, Helsby Hill, Frodsham, Beeston Castle, Delamere Forest and the Bridgewater Canal. The event has 12 checkpoints en route and a total field of 400 places.

The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have previously completed an organised ultramarathon of at least 50 miles. The published entry fees are £209 for unaffiliated entrants and £207 for affiliated club or TRA members. The overall cut off for the event is 32 hours.

Support crews are permitted at specified locations but are not allowed at Checkpoints 7, 10 and 12. A single pacer is permitted from the halfway point at Frodsham Parish Hall; pacers must be self sufficient and carry the required kit. Dropbags are allowed at the Frodsham location used for CP6 and CP11; size limits apply.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long sleeve base layer, at least 1 litre of water capacity, a fully charged mobile phone, a survival or thermal bag, a headtorch and a backup light, a whistle and the event GPS tracker.
