Dechmont Law Trail Race Festival

The Dechmont Law Trail Race Festival is organized by the Lothian Running Club in Livingston. The event takes place in Dechmont Law Park, utilizing a venue famous for local historical folklore. The course consists of scenic, undulating woodland trails primarily on firm paths, with some short tarmac sections included.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • 10 km Trail Race
  • 6.5 km Trail Race
  • 2.5 km Junior Race

The 10 km course combines a short loop and a long loop, passing the Alien Stone in the North Wood. This race serves as the Scottish Athletics East District Trail Championships. The 6.5 km route follows the long loop through the woodland areas. The 2.5 km junior race consists of a specific loop around the paths of Dechmont Law.

A cut-off time of 1 hour 45 minutes is in place for the 10 km distance. Dogs and pushchairs are not permitted on any of the courses. The event features chip timing, and the routes are marked with marshals and a tail runner present for all distances.

Facilities at the start and finish area include registration, portable toilets, and an unsupervised baggage storage tent. The site is located approximately a 15-minute walk from Livingston North train station and local parking on Royston Road. Every finisher receives a medal and access to a buffet provided by the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
