Damascus Festival of Miles

The Damascus Festival of Miles is a timed loop race held at Damascus Town Park in Damascus, Virginia on October 2 and 3, 2026. Participants run repeated laps of a scenic one mile loop through the park, with each entrant attempting as many laps as possible within their chosen time limit.

Distances offered include:

  • 3 hour option
  • 6 hour option
  • 12 hour option

More than 100 spaces are available for runners to set up campsites adjacent to the course. Registered runners have the option to camp overnight on the Friday before the race in their reserved space. Packet pick up and race preparation take place during a half day on the Friday of the event.

On the main race day there is live music and food trucks near the park gazebo. The event provides aid stations with water and snacks and has designated parking areas near the site. Registered runners receive a race shirt. Awards are presented to the first, second, and third place finishers in each race category, and additional recognition is given to participants who complete the most laps. Trail event at Doe Mountain Recreation Area near Mountain City TN offering 50K, 25K, 13K and a free kids mile. Courses feature significant elevation and a 60 foot fire tower with panoramic views.

A 10 miles out and back trail race on the VA Creeper rail to trail in Abingdon, VA, mostly dirt and gravel with two road crossings. Registration has a $20 fee and awards are given by overall place and multiple age groups.

Trail races near Abingdon, VA offering a 50 mile, a 55K and a separate Pepsi Challenge 25K the following day. The routes include long downhill forest sections, a famous broken Pepsi machine on course, crew access points and a cupless policy..
