Currahee Challenge 5k/10k

The Currahee Challenge takes place at Currahee Mountain in Toccoa, Georgia. Participants run or walk along the Colonel Robert Sink Trail, starting from the base of the mountain. This location served as the historic training site for the 501st, 506th, 511th, and 517th Parachute Infantry Regiments.

The course utilizes an unpaved access road and features significant elevation changes with uphill and downhill sections. For those participating in the longer distance, the final half mile before reaching the summit is notably steep. The turnaround point for the longer route is marked by a historical monument at the top of the mountain.

Available distances include:

  • 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
  • 10K Run (6.2 Miles)

The event is held on an unpaved surface and follows a path used by paratroopers depicted in several historical films and series. The 5K option is the designated distance for participants who prefer walking. The finish line for all participants remains open until 11:30 am.
