CRR Weaselhead X/C Race
The CRR Weaselhead X/C Race takes runners along the south shore of the Glenmore Reservoir and into the Weaselhead Flats, featuring a return route on the Jackrabbit Trail. This event is an established part of the local Grand Prix series and offers a winter running experience through a quiet landscape. The terrain consists of a mix of pathways and forest trails, which in February often include snow-covered sections, icy patches, mud, and packed dirt. Because of these conditions, the use of spikes or cleats is strongly recommended.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different participants:
- 8 km: A longer variation featuring a mix of single-track and double-track trails.
- 4 km: An out-and-back course along the reservoir shore.
- 0.5 km: A fun run for children on pathway or dirt tracks.
The start and finish lines are located at the Variety Spray Park car lot in South Glenmore Park. Following the competition, a social gathering is held at the Palliser-Bayview-Pumphill Community Association hall. Hot soup, rolls, and beverages are provided at this social, and participants are asked to bring their own bowl, mug, and spoon to help reduce waste. While online pre-registration is available, entry fees are collected on-site on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
