CRR Twelve Mile Coulee X/C Race

The CRR Twelve Mile Coulee X/C Race takes place in Twelve Mile Coulee in the Tuscany area of Calgary. It is listed as event number 7 in the 2025–2026 Grand Prix Series and marks the 40th anniversary of the X/C series.

Trails run along the benchlands and into the coulee. Surfaces include dirt, grass, snow, ice, and mud, and the course features rolling terrain with climbs out of the coulee. Spikes, cleats, or treaded shoes are recommended for true cross country conditions.

Distances

  • ~0.5 km kids' fun run
  • ~4 km main race
  • ~8 km main race

Pre-registration is closed; payment is handled in cash on site. Pre-registered runners pay on site only. Race-day registrants must complete the registration form and pay on site. Entry fees are listed as 12 USD general, 8 USD for Calgary Roadrunners members, 6 USD for full-time students, and 0 USD for the kids' race. A parent or guardian must digitally sign an online waiver for each child entered.

Primary parking is at Tuscany Community Hall; a small lot at the start/finish is available but fills quickly. Participants are asked to avoid blocking residential driveways. Volunteers are needed for setup, timing, marshalling, results, and kitchen duties. A post-race gathering is held at Tuscany Community Hall with hot soup, rolls, and beverages; attendees are encouraged to bring their own bowl, mug, and spoon to reduce waste.

Races typically proceed if temperatures are warmer than -20°C; the final decision rests with the organizers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
