CRR Fish Creek XC Race
The Fish Creek X/C race serves as the 10th and final event of the 2025-2026 Grand Prix series, celebrating its 40th anniversary season. Held within Calgary's Fish Creek Provincial Park, the course traverses wooded trails, open meadows, and steep hills. Runners should expect typical cross-country conditions, including snow, ice, mud, water crossings, and uneven footing. Spikes or cleats are strongly recommended for safety and traction.
The start and finish area is located 150 meters west of the Hull’s Wood parking lot. The event offers the following distances:
- 1 km (approximate): Kids’ Fun Run on a mostly flat route.
- 4 km (approximate): A single loop featuring hills and natural obstacles.
- 8 km (approximate): Either two loops or an extended route further into the park.
As the season finale, this race is where runners secure their overall and age-category standings in the Grand Prix series. It also marks the completion of the Iron Person challenge for those who have participated in every race of the winter season.
A post-race social gathering takes place at the Deer Run Community Centre, featuring hot soup, rolls, and beverages. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bowl, mug, and spoon to help reduce waste. Parking is available at the Hull’s Wood lot, reached via Bow Bottom Trail. The event proceeds if temperatures are above -20°C, subject to the director's final decision. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
