Crozet Trails Crew 5K/10k Trail Run + Family Fun Run
This event is the major fundraiser for the Crozet Trails Crew, a community organization that builds and connects trails and greenways around Crozet and western Albemarle. The course uses Crozet Park festival grounds and the Crozet trail to the east of the park. The trail is rustic with roots, rocks, and ruts, and the main courses return to Crozet Park.
There are three options:
- Trail 5K : 3.1 miles
- Trail 10K : 10K, limited field
- Family Fun Run : 0.75 miles
The 10K route loops by Lickinghole basin and crosses Lickinghole Creek, where participants may get their feet wet; organizers are fundraising for a bridge at that crossing. The Family Fun Run follows a short extension by the dog park and includes a section intended to eventually connect to downtown Crozet. All race registrants receive a T-shirt; the Family Fun Run is not timed and does not award places. Kids under seven may participate in the Family Fun Run for free if accompanied by a registered participant.
A post-race trails festival is held at the finish, featuring a made-from-scratch pancake breakfast supported by Great Valu and Yellow Mug Coffee, live music on the new stage, and Starr Hill beer. All proceeds support Crozet Trails Crew. Registration opens and closes on the dates listed by the organizer; packet pick-up is available the Thursday before the race and on race morning at Crozet Park pavilion.
