Martha Moats Baker
The Martha Moats Baker is a low key trail run in the Jefferson National Forest held on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The start location is North River Gap (a.k.a. the TWOT Lot). The full course measures roughly 60 km (about 38.7 miles) with a total ascent and descent of approximately 8,000 feet; a shorter Party Route of about 50 km (roughly 31.2 miles) is also offered.
There are three staffed aid stations along the route: Reddish Knob at 13.4 miles (crew access and dropbags), Wolf Ridge at 22.7 miles (crew access and dropbags), and Grooms Ridge at 30.2 miles (dropbags only). Common liquids provided at aid stations are water and Gatorade; runners are asked to contribute a single shared food item and may bring up to three small labeled ziplock bags for personal aid at the aid stations. These bags are intended for food and fueling items, not clothing or gear, and will be returned to the finish later in the day.
Course markings are minimal, with only limited markings into and out of the first aid station. A GPX file, turnsheet, and map are provided for navigation and are recommended for all participants. Parking at the start is limited; overflow parking is available along nearby Tilghman Road. The event takes place in remote terrain and does not provide on-course medical personnel or supplies; participants are responsible for their own medical needs and safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
