Martha Moats Baker

The Martha Moats Baker (MMB) is a trail running event held on trails near the Wild Oak Trail in the Jefferson National Forest. The course was revised in 2022; the current routing runs approximately 60 km (about 38.7 miles) with a shorter 50 km party route option.

The route includes substantial climbing, with roughly 8,000 feet of total ascent and descent. There are three staffed aid stations located at Reddish Knob (about 13.4 miles), Wolf Ridge (about 22.7 miles), and Grooms Ridge (about 30.2 miles). Liquids such as water and sports drink are provided at those stations; runners are asked to contribute a single food item for common aid. Runners may prepare up to three small, clearly marked ziplock bags for transport to the aid stations; these are intended for food and fuel only and will be returned to the finish later in the day.

Event markings on the course are minimal; organizers advise carrying a waterproof turnsheet and using the provided GPX track to navigate. The start/finish is at the TWOT parking area and on-site parking space is limited, with overflow along nearby Tilghman Road. Entry is limited to a fixed field size and opens in mid-July. Medical care is not provided by the event; participants are responsible for their own safety and emergency planning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
