Croagh Patrick Uphill
Croagh Patrick Uphill is an uphill mountain race in County Mayo on Friday 12 June 2026. The route uses the Lecanvy caravan park access road to reach the open mountain, then follows markers along sheep tracks, crosses a small river, follows an old gold mining track, and continues up shale to the summit. The route is fully marked and GPS is not allowed.
Distances and eligibility:
- Long Course: 3.6 km, 720 m climb. Runners aged 18 and older in 2026 eligible.
- Short Course: 2.5 km, 390 m climb. Runners and walkers aged 14 and older in 2026 eligible.
- Kids Challenge: 0.7 km, 110 m climb. Age 6 and older in 2026 eligible. Under 10s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Results for the kids challenge will be posted on the event forum and no purchase is required.
Entry fee is €10 for seniors and €8 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open 11 May 2026 and close 11 June 2026. Registration, prizegiving and parking are at the caravan park at Lecanvy. Parking costs €5 per car payable in cash. Self sufficient camper vans may stay Friday night for €20 cash by arrangement on the night.
This event is part of the Irish Uphill League. Mandatory Level B kit must be carried and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag.
