Lettergesh Binn Chuanna Loop

The event is a mountain loop that starts and finishes at Connemara Caravan and Camping Park next to Lettergesh Beach. The route begins with about one kilometre on a quiet country road before ascending onto open mountain terrain.

The short course turns around at the base of Binn Chuanna, offering views of Mweelrea, and returns directly to the campsite and the shore. The long route continues with a short scrambly climb through rock to Binn Chuanna, a boggy ridge run to Garraun with Atlantic views, and a springy heathery descent back to the road and campsite where refreshments will be available.

Only major junctions on the route will be marked and GPS use is not allowed. All competitors must carry mandatory Level C kit including a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, and map and compass. The exact kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and random kit checks may be carried out.

IMRA has reserved places at the Connemara Caravan and Camping Park. Parking for non campers is available at Lettergesh Beach with a short walk to the campsite depending on tide conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
