Lettergesh-Binn Chuanna Loop

The event is a loop course based at Connemara Caravan and Camping Park, at the end of Lettergesh Beach in County Galway. The route leaves a short quiet country road after the first kilometre and continues onto open mountain terrain, with rocky sections, a boggy ridge and springy heathery descents. Key viewpoints include a climb to the short course turn at the base of Binn Chuanna with views of Mweelrea, then a scrambly ascent to Binn Chuanna and a ridge run to Garraun before returning to the campsite for a dip and refreshments.

Race marking is limited to only major junctions and GPS devices are not allowed. The event difficulty is rated 3, described as easy terrain with lower ascent and distance guidelines. Mandatory kit is Level C (Advanced) and includes a waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, foil blanket or bivvy, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry at least 500 mL water, emergency food, and map and compass. Actual kit to be carried will be finalised on the day and random checks may be carried out; lack of required items can lead to denial of entry or disqualification.

Entries open Monday 11 May 2026 and close Thursday 11 June 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Route and logistics are in development pending permissions and may be updated after a final recce planned for the weekend of May 23rd.
