Crescent Hill 5K
This midsummer trail event at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock is scheduled for July 18, 2026 in Honey Creek, Iowa. It is organized by Pottawattamie Conservation and takes place within the Hitchcock Nature Center area, which is part of a 1,500-acre site in the Loess Hills.
Two event options are offered:
- 5K Run: 3.1 miles
- Nature Hike: 2.2 miles
The 5K course runs from the Crescent Hill ski lodge through wooded hillsides, around a fishing pond, to the scenic top of the ski hill, then returns to the base. The nature hike follows the Crescent Ridge Trail in a loop around the ski area and features scenic views and moderate terrain. Trail surfaces are dirt and gravel.
Packet pickup is available on race day starting at 7:00 a.m. Awards include eco-friendly medals for the top three male and female finishers per age group and an award for best costume. The top overall male and female finishers receive a skiing weekend for two.
Registration fees vary by date: $35 through June 18, $40 from June 19 through July 17, and $45 on race day. Shirt add-ons cost $15 if ordered by July 1. Drink passes for ages 21 and over are $5 on site and all onsite purchases are card only; cash tips or donations are welcome.
