Cowdray Winter Night Run

Event overview

The Winter Night Run at Cowdray Park takes place on Saturday 6 December 2025. The event offers night-time trail races on the Cowdray Estate with mandatory head torches. Race headquarters is The Walled Garden, Riverground Stables, Cowdray Park, Midhurst GU29 9AL. The event includes a children’s series that runs across the Winter, Spring and Summer events; parents may run with children in the 3km race. A 10% discount applies when entering all three junior or kids races on the same order.

Course, safety and logistics

Both routes run through parkland and along the River Rother, starting near the Cowdray Ruins and returning to the Walled Garden and heritage site. The 5km is one lap and the 10km is two laps. The course is mostly on bridleways and footpaths with some private estate tracks available only on race day; there are a couple of gradual climbs.

The kids 3km is led and swept by mountain bike riders and supported by hi-vis safety marshals; children receive an LED safety bracelet. The course will be marked and marshalled using reflective signs, glow sticks and support from Sussex Search & Rescue. Maps and GPX routes are provided for the 3km, 5km and 10km courses. Parking options include town and nearby car parks with walking routes to the start; organisers advise allowing time to park and walk to Race HQ.
