The Maverick Hampshire Trail 2027
The event takes place at Matterley Basin Grand Prix Track near Winchester, within the South Downs National Park. Routes lead across chalk downland, flowing singletrack and sections of woodland, and include exposed ridgelines with views toward Cheesefoot Head and the River Itchen.
Three route options are offered:
- Half Marathon: 24 km, +410 m elevation
- Middle: 16 km, +298 m elevation
- Short: 5 km, +125 m elevation
The underfoot surface is mostly fast, hard packed trail with some technical descents and punchy climbs. Courses are fully marked and fully timed. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; there is no outpost on the Short route. Organisers aim to keep outposts cup free, so runners are asked to bring a bottle or reusable cup.
Event facilities listed include free parking at the venue, a bag drop area, food and drink, event photography, online results and a metal finishers medal. Headphone use on course is discouraged. Transfers via the event entry platform are permitted up to five days before the event where availability allows. Runners are asked to plan for an approximate four hour finish window to help event logistics.
Essential items suggested include a phone, trail shoes, rain coat, warm top, foil blanket and a refillable water container. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
