The Maverick Hampshire Trail event takes place on Saturday 14 March 2026 at Matterley Basin Grand Prix Track, Winchester, Hampshire (SO24 1HW). The event is organised by Maverick Race and uses trails within the South Downs National Park. The course includes undulating hills, woodland, sections beside the River Itchen, and a return via Cheesefoot Head. The organiser asks that runners aim to finish within four hours.

Routes and facilities

  • Half Marathon: 24 km, elevation gain +410 m
  • Middle: 16 km, elevation gain +298 m
  • Short: 5 km, elevation gain +125 m

The Half Marathon route has two outposts at about 7.5 km and 13 km. The Middle route has one outpost at about 7.5 km. Outposts offer snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; there will not be pre-filled water cups. Runners should carry a reusable cup or bottle for refills from self-serve water barrels. There are toilets at the start/finish area and at the second outpost on the Half Marathon route; there are no toilets along the Short or Middle routes. The event offers free parking, a fully marked course, timing and online results. The organiser strongly recommends not wearing headphones. Transfers out of the event are allowed once, up to the Monday before the event (five days prior). The event is dog friendly; a dog must be added to the entry to participate with a dog.
