The Maverick Hampshire Trail 2027
The event takes place at Matterley Basin Grand Prix Track near Winchester in the South Downs National Park. Routes run across open chalk downland, singletrack and bridleways, passing woodland, the River Itchen, exposed ridgelines and Cheesefoot Head. Surfaces are described as fast and hard-packed with some technical descents and punchy climbs.
Three route options are available:
- Half Marathon: 24 km, +410 m, £49
- Middle: 16 km, +298 m, £39
- Short: 5 km, +125 m, £29
The course is fully marked and fully timed with online results. Precision fuel and hydration outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drink on the longer routes; there is no outpost on the Short route. Other event facilities include free parking, bag drop, event photography, food and drink for purchase, and a metal finishers medal. The event aims to keep outposts cup-free and asks participants to bring a reusable cup or bottle.
Safety notes and race guidance include following on-course signage, listening to marshals, taking care at road crossings, closing gates and not littering. The organiser provides route GPX files and online route information. Headphones are discouraged by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
