The Maverick Hampshire Trail 2027
The event takes place at Matterley Basin Grand Prix Track near Winchester in the South Downs National Park. The route network uses open chalk downland, flowing singletrack, ridgelines and woodland, and passes features such as Cheesefoot Head and the River Itchen. Surfaces are described as fast and hard packed with punchy climbs and a few technical descents.
Distances on offer:
- Half Marathon: 24 km, +410 m elevation
- Middle: 16 km, +298 m elevation
- Short: 5 km, +125 m elevation
The course is fully marked and fully timed. Precision fuel and hydration outposts are provided on the longer routes; there is no outpost on the Short route. Organisers aim to keep outposts cup free so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Facilities listed include free parking, bag drop, food and drink, event photography, online results and a metal finishers medal. The event is dog friendly but spaces for dogs are limited and must be added to the entry.
Runners are asked to follow on-course signage and marshals, to be considerate and to close gates. The organiser requests that participants plan for a maximum four hour finish to reduce pressure on marshals. Recommended items include trail shoes, a raincoat, water and a reusable cup.
