The Maverick Hampshire Trail 2027
The Maverick Hampshire Trail takes place on Saturday 20 March 2027 at Matterley Basin Grand Prix Track, Winchester, in the South Downs National Park. The event explores trails around historic Winchester and the surrounding chalk downland.
The course features open landscapes, flowing singletrack and undulating chalk ridgelines. Runners will encounter fast, hard-packed trails, punchy climbs, sections of woodland and views across the National Park. Routes pass the River Itchen and move out toward Cheesefoot Head.
Available route options:
- Half Marathon: 24 km, +410 m elevation
- Middle: 16 km, +298 m elevation
- Short: 5 km, +125 m elevation
Facilities include fully marked courses, precision fuel and hydration outposts (no outpost on the Short route), timing and online results, event photography, bag drop, food and drink, a metal finishers medal and free parking. The event is dog friendly but spaces are limited and dogs must be added to entries. Organisers ask that runners finish within four hours to help manage marshal duty.
A cup-free policy applies at outposts, so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle. Recommended items include trail shoes, rain coat, water bottle or running pack and a foil blanket. The venue has convenient access from London and the nearest train station is Winchester. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
