Winter X - Meon Valley
Winter X is a mid-winter trail-running event held in the Meon Valley, Hampshire. The listed date for this edition is 28 December 2025; entries for that year are closed and a provisional date for 2026 is 28 December 2026. The event is organised under UKA rules and is capped at 300 walkers and runners across all routes.
Participants choose from these distances:
- 10 km North leg on the old railway line to West Meon and back.
- 30 km North and East legs, East leg follows the South Downs Way.
- 50 km North, East and West legs, West leg via Beacon Hill to Holden Farm.
- 70 km Full course with North, East, West and South legs to Wickham.
Routes follow well-trodden public trails with some short road sections and include parts of the South Downs Way. Courses are waymarked with arrows and flags; markings may be less frequent on major paths. GPX files are provided and will be finalised about a week before the event. Checkpoints are staffed and offer a selection of hot and cold drinks, food including vegan or dairy-free options at many stops, and toilets at some locations.
Run HQ is Meonstoke Village Hall, Pound Lane, Southampton SO32 3NP. Parking is provided south of Meon Hall on Fry’s Lane / Chapel Road. Race numbers are collected at registration; no entries on the day. Mandatory items include a fully charged mobile phone, a head-torch if out after dark, and a visible race number. Competitors must follow marshal instructions, carry out litter, and close gates when required. A small rock memento is given to every finisher.
