Event overview

Winter's End is a trail running event on the South Downs Way on 21 March 2026. It features a point-to-point 50 mile ultramarathon that starts near Arundel in West Sussex and finishes at Winchester Athletics Track in Hampshire. The route follows trails along the chalk ridge of the South Downs and passes villages, ancient woodlands and landmarks such as Old Winchester Hill. The event is open to entrants aged 18 and over on the event date. Canicross entries are not accepted.

The course is fully marked and will have multiple aid stations with sweet and savoury snacks, vegan options, water and flat coke; it is run as a cupless event. Cut off times are 13.5 hours for the 50 mile event and 8 hours for each marathon option. All 50 mile runners will have a kit inspection before collecting race bibs.

Mandatory kit requirements include a headtorch or chest torch for 50 mile runners (and for marathon runners who may exceed 7 hours), a jacket and a pack or belt for the tracker for 50 mile runners, and at least 500 ml of fluid for all runners. A bag drop will operate at each start and bags will be transported to the finish. Coach transport and parking arrangements are provided between start and finish locations. Take on scenic South Downs trails at Queen Elizabeth Country Park with routes for every level. Choose 21.6 km, 15.2 km or 7.9 km trail runs or join canicross and hikes, organised by UK Running Events.

Starburster is a twilight 5 or 10 mile run through Hurn Forest on 31 January, with out and back laps on firm forest trails beneath sunset skies. Head torches are required and 20% of entry fees support Forestry England for trail care.

A guided 10 km trail run around the Devil's Punchbowl in Hindhead, Surrey. Evening sessions include sunset runs or night runs by head torch and focus on group pacing, hilly trails, and scenic views.

The Pilgrim Challenge will take place in Farnham from Saturday 7 February 2026 to Sunday 8 February 2026. You can run 66 miles.
