Conquer the Castle Trail Race

Conquer the Castle is a multi-distance trail event held at the North Chagrin Reservation in the Cleveland Metroparks. The event takes place in a forest setting and includes various terrain features such as climbs and creek crossings. Organized with multiple start windows throughout the day, the race utilizes the Forest Picnic Area as the primary start and finish location.

Participants can choose from a wide range of distances and disciplines:

  • 5k (3.1 miles)
  • 10 Mile (10.3 miles)
  • 10 Mile Ruck (10.3 miles)
  • 20 Mile (20.6 miles)
  • 20 Mile Ruck (20.6 miles)
  • 50k
  • 100k

The event features chip timing and stocked aid stations, including one located at Squire's Castle Shelter. For the longest distance, the 100k, runners are permitted to have a pacer for one or two loops. Those competing in the 100k or 50k have an early send-off option, though this renders them ineligible for overall awards. Participants who are on the course after 3:00 PM are required to carry a headlamp or light source.

All participants receive a race shirt, bib, and a finisher medal. Distances ranging from the 10 Mile to the 100k include a knighting ceremony, while 100k finishers receive a belt buckle. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in most categories. Parking is available at AB Williams Memorial Woods and the North Chagrin Nature Center.
