Climb It For Climate

Hardenburgh, United States • 16 Aug 2026

Event

Climb It For Climate takes place on August 16, 2026 at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in Highmount, New York (181 Galli Curci Rd). The event is organized by The Running Kind and offers two distances:

  • 25K - about 15 miles, 5000 ft gain and descent
  • 8K - about 5 miles, 1400 ft gain and descent

Both distances are open to hikers. Registration closes on August 15.

Course and logistics

The 25K follows technical mountain trails with significant climbing and descending; the 8K runs on ski slopes at Belleayre. Organizers advise participants to download the course maps in advance. The event is cupless: water and electrolyte mix are available at the start/finish area and at two on-course aid stations for the 25K. Participants should bring their own hydration pack. Some fuel is provided at aid stations, and plant-based aid will be supplied by Gnarly Nutrition. Course cutoffs are marked at approximately 8 miles, 11 miles, and 12.5 miles on the 25K.

Sustainability, community and awards

The event is run as a zero carbon event with a small registration fee used to offset travel emissions; the organizer partners with a carbon offset project. Donations collected through registration and raffle support The Catskill Center. Gently worn shoes are accepted for Sneakers 4 Good. Sponsors include HOKA, Ciele Athletics, Who Gives A Crap, Best Day Brewing and Salt Stick. Awards include top male, female and non-binary prizes and a finisher pin for all finishers.
