Climb It For Climate
Climb It For Climate is a mountain trail event held at Belleayre Resort in the Catskill Mountains, on a peak sitting just under 3500 ft. The event includes trail running and hiking options and collects donations through registration and a raffle for The Catskill Center.
Distances
- 25K : ~16 miles, 5000+ ft elevation, difficult terrain; hiking option
- 8K : on ski slopes at Belleayre; more approachable; water station at Sunset Lodge
The 25K course features technical trails with significant climbing and descending. The course includes two full aid stations and one water-only station, located at Rider Hollow Trailhead, McKenley Hollow Trailhead, and Sunset Lodge. The 8K has a water-only station at Sunset Lodge, which is accessible by gondola; discounted spectator passes are offered and runners may ride without charge.
The event is organized as a zero carbon event. A designated fee included with registration offsets carbon emissions related to hosting the race and to personal travel. The organizers partner with the Change Climate Project for offsets and are collecting additional monetary donations for The Catskill Center. Gently worn, used, or new shoes are accepted for Sneakers 4 Good, with funds directed to the same nonprofit partner.
Course maps are available for both distances and participants are advised to review the routes before the event. The race is part of the Mountain Madness series that combines multiple mountain running events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
