Squatchywaska Mountainfest - Ellenville, NY, April 24, 2027
Squatchywaska Mountainfest is a trail running event held at Berme Road Park in Ellenville, New York. The event offers two mountain-distance courses that traverse the Shawangunk Ridge and sections of the Long Path, including cliffs, glacial ledges, and ridgetop pitch pine forests. The races support land conservation through a relationship with a local nonprofit.
Distances
- 25K (closer to 17 miles)
- 10 Miler
Both courses combine technical singletrack with sections of crushed-gravel carriage road. The 25K includes scrambling and about 2,500 feet of elevation gain; the 10 Miler has about 1,800 feet of climbing. Course markings use neon pink ribbons and large red directional arrows. There are two on-course aid stations providing water, electrolyte drink, and snacks; both aid stations are not crew-accessible. The event is capped at 150 participants across both distances.
Safety and rules include required gear carried at all times such as a charged cell phone, water, at least 200 extra calories, a whistle, and a GPX file of the course. Dogs are not allowed at the start/finish park. Portable toilets are available at the start/finish area including one ADA unit. Adaptive athletes may register guides or pacers and specific accommodations can be requested in advance. Runners are asked to stay on trail to protect a fragile cliffside ecosystem and local wildlife. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
