Squatchywaska Mountainfest
Squatchywaska Mountainfest is a trail running event in Ellenville, New York on April 24, 2027. The event offers two mountain courses that start and finish at Berme Road Park and traverse the Shawangunk Ridge and nearby ledges.
The event uses technical singletrack and crushed gravel carriage roads, with cliffs, steep climbs, rock slabs, roots, and scrambling sections. The courses include views of the Catskills and the 187 ft Verkeerder Kill Falls. Course marking includes neon pink reflective ribbon and large red directional arrows.
Entry is limited and capped at 150 participants across both distances. A lottery runs December 1 to 31 with names drawn January 1; entrants not drawn are placed on the waitlist along with later registrants. Both events have a 6 hour overall cutoff; the course pace requirements are noted for each distance and the 25K includes two on course cutoffs.
Aid stations are located on course and at Squatch HQ; they provide water, Skratch, and snacks. Crew access is allowed only at Squatch HQ and on course aid stations are not crew accessible. Portable toilets including an ADA unit are available at the start finish area. Dogs are not permitted at Berme Road Park.
Required items for all participants include a charged cell phone, water bottle or hydration pack, at least 200 extra calories, a whistle, and a GPX file of the course on a device. The event is not recommended for children under 16. Adaptive support and pacer policies are available for athletes with disabilities; all terrain wheelchairs are not recommended for this technical route.
