Manitou's Revenge - 53 mile ultramarathon
Manitou's Revenge is a long-distance trail race held in the Catskill Mountains. The course covers 53 miles with approximately 15,000 feet of vertical gain, beginning in Windham, New York, on the northern Black Dome Trail and then following the Long Path from Acra Point toward downtown Phoenicia.
The route passes through technical terrain that includes steep climbs, rock-strewn descents, and sections that require careful scrambling. Aid stations are limited in number, and runners face long stretches between checkpoints; the event uses a 23-hour overall time limit and does not permit pacers. Participants are expected to follow published qualification requirements and race rules.
Logistics include pre-race packet pickup at the Parish Hall in Phoenicia and bus transport from Phoenicia-area locations to the start. Check-in takes place at the start area, and a post-race meal is provided in Phoenicia. The schedule lists specific aid station cutoffs at Platte Cove, Mink Hollow, and Silver Hollow.
The event emphasizes self-sufficiency on the trail and multiple technical sections; it is organized with defined checkpoints, cutoffs, and support at designated aid stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
