Catskill 100 : The Running Kind

The Catskill 100 is a trail ultramarathon held August 6, 2027 in the Catskill Mountains. The main event covers approximately 100 miles with over 25,000 ft of elevation gain and descent over very technical mountain terrain. The route travels through four New York State Wilderness Areas, includes the full extent of the Devil’s Path, and summits 12 of the 33 Catskill High Peaks: Indian Head, Twin, Sugarloaf, Plateau, Hunter, West Kill, Wittenberg, Cornell, Slide, Big Indian, Eagle and Balsam.

This race uses staggered start waves released every five minutes with 15 runners per wave; the first half of waves are reserved for women and non-binary runners. Entry requires an application and proof of experience; accepted qualifiers include a list of pre-approved ultras, previous 100 mile or 100K finishes, or comparable self-supported efforts.

Support logistics include nine numbered aid stations along the course with specified crew access. Crew and pacer access is permitted at several aid stations while other stations do not allow crew. Pacers must register, wear a pacer bib, have their gear checked, and each runner may use up to two pacers but only one on course at a time. Drop bags are listed for Notch Lake, Silver Hollow, and Biscuit Brook locations. The event is organized as a zero carbon race with a registration contribution for carbon offsets and fundraising support for The Catskills Center. Sponsors and community programs include a shoe donation drive under Sneakers 4 Good. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
