Escarpment Trail Run 30K
The Escarpment Trail Run is a remote, singletrack trail race in the Northern Catskills held on Sunday, July 25, 2027. The course is 30 km (18.6 miles) with approximately 4,800 ft of elevation gain and about 4,400 ft of elevation loss. The event enforces a six hour course cutoff.
The trail is rugged and technical, with steep climbs, technical descents, boulder fields, downed trees, gullies and exposed roots. The route traverses multiple high peaks and passes along cliff sections; there are no road crossings. Runners should expect limited cell coverage in places and a wide range of natural hazards. All aid on course is carried in by volunteers, and aid stations have a limited supply of water, an electrolyte drink, snacks and menstrual products. Because of the remote nature of the course, participants are expected to be self-sufficient.
Entry is limited and applicants must be at least 18 on race day and meet qualifying standards to ensure preparedness for the terrain and the six hour finish requirement. Each application is reviewed by the race director and accepted entries are charged at the time of confirmation. Race logistics include a shuttle from the finish area to the start, and a parking fee at the finish paid to the campground.
There are no awards, age group categories or medals. Repeat finishers earn milestone shirts based on cumulative finishes. A virtual participation option requires completion of the true course within the designated window and is self-supported. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
