Clachnaben Hill Race

The Clachnaben Hill Race is a competitive event organized by the Cosmic Hillbashers. The course covers a distance of 13.6 km and involves a total ascent of 690 m. It takes place in the woods to the west of the Old Military Road, situated between the B974 and B976.

The event is held under Scottish Hill Runners rules and guidelines. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the race. All runners are required to carry mandatory safety equipment, which includes a full waterproof body cover, a hat, gloves, a whistle, a map, and a compass. There is a kit check before the start to ensure all participants are prepared for the exposed higher sections of the route.

The course features limited markings and runners are expected to be able to navigate the terrain independently, including in conditions of low visibility. Marshals are stationed at various points to provide safety and directional guidance.

On-site facilities include toilets and limited water at the start and finish area. Refreshments such as tea and cake are provided for participants after the race.

Registration must be completed online in advance, as there are no entries accepted on the day of the event. Prize categories are available for male and female seniors, as well as several age-based veteran categories from V40 to V70. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
