The Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Runs take place on 21 December 2025 at Chopwell Woods, Rowlands Gill, Gateshead. Chopwell Wood is a 360-hectare mixed woodland managed by Forestry England on the fringe of Gateshead. The event offers mapped trail routes for three distances.
Race distances
- Family 1 Mile - ages 3–11; adult runs free with child
- 4 Mile - ages 11+
- 8 Mile - ages 16+
Race details
The event is Canicross friendly and allows one controlled dog per runner. Live chip-timing is provided by Timing Up North. All finishers of the 4 Mile and 8 Mile runs receive a medal, event merchandise, mince pies, chocolates and a drink. Family Mile finishers receive a medal, a drink and a selection box. An event T-shirt is available for purchase at £12.

There is free parking on site, but spaces are very limited. Registration opens on 06/01/2025 at 06:00 and closes on 14/11/2025 at 23:59.
