Chopwell Woods Christmas Trail Races return to Chopwell Woods, a Forestry England site on the fringe of Gateshead near Rowlands Gill. The event offers three trail distances: 1 mile Family Santa Run (for ages 3–11, with a free accompanying adult), 4-mile and 8-mile routes. The 8-mile course is for 16+, while the 4-mile targets 11+.

Canicross is friendly, with one controlled dog per runner. The woodland trails wind through 360 hectares of mixed woodland. Finisher goodies include medals, merchandise, mince pies, chocolates and drinks; Family Mile finishers receive a medal, drink and selection box.
