Chopwell Moon Runner – 10k Head Torch Trail Race

The event is a 10k head torch trail race held on Saturday 18 October 2025 at Chopwell Woodland Park on the fringe of Gateshead. The minimum entry age is 15. Entry fees are £24 for UKA members and £26 for non-members. Entries open Monday 25 November 2024 and close Thursday 16 October 2025. The race is organised by Greener Miles Running.

Course, facilities and inclusions

The 2025 route follows well-marked footpaths, forest trails and bridleways with occasional views of woodland sculptures. Terrain includes hard packed gravel tracks, single twisting dirt tracks and occasional muddy bridleway. The race starts and finishes near the main car park at the Pines. There will be a race HQ with toilets, medical support on the course, and water, snacks and fruit available at the start and finish area. Parking has spaces for approximately 200 cars; car sharing is encouraged.

Included with entry are a race memento, a packet of wild flower seeds, free event pictures, and prizes for the top three male and female finishers plus category prizes.
