Location, course and facilities

The venue is Chopwell Woodland Park on the fringe of Gateshead. The race starts and finishes at the Pines near the main car park. Terrain includes a mixture of hard-packed gravel tracks, single twisting dirt tracks and occasional muddy bridleway. The route offers occasional views of woodland sculptures and local wildlife.

Race facilities include a race headquarters with toilets, water, snacks and fruit at the start and finish area, and medical support on the course. There are spaces for approximately 200 cars; participants are encouraged to car share where possible. The event organiser provides a race memento, free event pictures, prizes for the top three male and female finishers, and category prizes for veteran age groups (V40, V50, V60, V70). The event notes eco-friendly measures such as avoiding disposable plastic cups and providing wild flower seed packets as part of race goodies.
