Chasing the Sun

Chasing the Sun is an endurance running event hosted at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fort McDowell, AZ. The event is built around a looped course and offers multiple timed formats and team options.

Individuals and teams compete to complete as many laps as possible within a set time limit. Race formats include 3 hour, 6 hour, and a sun up to sun down format of 10 hours and 42 minutes. Entries are accepted for solo runners and teams of two, three, or four. Laps completed outside the time limits do not count toward totals.

The course is run as a loop with the following segments: Shallmo Wash to Pemberton, Pemberton to Scenic, Scenic to Cinch, Cinch to Escondido, and Escondido to Finish.

Racer amenities include a race long sleeve hoodie, a pancake brunch, and awards. Mangled Foods will be onsite serving coffee, breakfast burritos, pizzas and other items. Sunrise Trails Coaching is the event training partner and offers training options for all race formats.

The event is chip timed by 4 Peaks Timing; timing chips are fixed to the reverse side of the race number and live results are posted to the web. Duo, trio and quad teams receive a race belt to transfer the race number between teammates. Parking and camping are available at the Four Peaks Staging Area on a first come first served basis. Park entry fees apply for day use and overnight camping. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
