The South Downs Way 100® is a 100 mile non-stop foot race along the full South Downs Way National Trail. The event takes place on 13 June 2026 and is organised by Centurion Running. It is part of the Gran Canaria World Trail Majors series. The advertised distance is 100 mi (161 km) with 12,700 ft (3,800 m) of elevation and a 30 hour overall cut-off. The advertised entry fee is £220 (£222 unaffiliated). Minimum age is 20.
Course and route
The route starts at Matterley Bowl and finishes at Eastbourne Sports Club Athletics Track, following the chalk ridgeway from near Winchester to Eastbourne. Terrain is listed as 85% trail and 15% road. The course is marked with National Trail posts, pink tyvek ribbons and arrows. Drop bags may be deposited at the start and will be transported to Washington (mile 54), Housedean (mile 76) and the finish. GPX and KML files are provided for the route.
Support, rules and logistics
There are a minimum of 12 stocked aid stations, full medical support and live tracking. Pacers are permitted from Kithust Hill Crew Point (mile 50); multiple pacers are allowed but only one may accompany a runner at a time. One crew vehicle per runner is permitted at designated access points and a crew pass is required. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes a charged mobile phone, 1 litre water capacity, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, whistle, headtorch and backup light (lights required from Washington onwards), long sleeved warm layer kept dry, and a cup or mug.
