South Downs Way 100
The South Downs Way 100 is a non-stop 100 mile foot race that follows the South Downs Way National Trail from just outside Winchester to Eastbourne. The event covers approximately 100mi with 12,700 ft (3,800 m) of elevation and a 30 hour overall cut off. The terrain is predominantly trail, roughly 85 percent trail and 15 percent road, and the route is marked with National Trail acorn posts plus event ribbons and arrows.
The race is fully supported with a minimum of 12 well stocked aid stations offering a variety of nutrition including options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free needs, hot drinks from Houghton onwards, and hot food at Washington and the finish. Medical cover is provided throughout the weekend with static teams, rapid response vehicles and an ambulance. Drop bags may be deposited at the start and are delivered to designated aid stations and the finish; three specific drop bag collection points are listed for the route.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and lights are required from Washington onwards. Pacers are allowed from Kithurst Hill crew point at mile 50 and one crew vehicle per runner may access specified crew points using a crew pass. The event issues finisher buckles, additional awards for sub 24 hour finishes, and category trophies. Entries open 19 July 2026 and the entry fee is £225.
