Catsmacker - Lake Sylvia Day Use Area, Perryville AR

The Catsmacker is an AURA "fun run" scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Lake Sylvia Day Use area in Perryville, Arkansas. Two course options are offered on the day of the event:

  • 20-ish miles for the Catsmacker
  • 12-ish miles for the Kitty Run

The routes use Forest Service roads and a short section of the Ouachita Trail. Surfaces include a small amount of pavement, mostly gravel, and single- or double-track trail. Course marking consists of signs, colored ribbon flagging, and flour arrows, with markings focused on turns and intersections; intermediate confidence markings are relatively rare. Turn-by-turn directions and course maps are provided by the organizer, and GPX files exist for both courses.

This is a donation-based event to cover permitting, aid station supplies, and other logistics; donations are non-refundable and proceeds are donated to AURA. Parking at the Lake Sylvia Day Use area is limited; overflow parking is along Highway 324 on the west side only. The park allows dogs on leash.

Runner safety notes include at least two aid stations for the longer course and at least one for the shorter course, basic food at aid stations, a waiver to sign on race morning, limited cell service in places, and a six-hour course cutoff. The event is volunteer-run and provides a post-run awards gathering with a cookout-style lunch. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
