Grit and Guts Trail Race 2025 : overview

The Grit and Guts Trail Race takes place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Dardanelle, AR (16728 W State Hwy 155). The event offers two trail distances:

  • 13.1 miles (Half Grit and Guts)
  • 20 miles (Full Grit and Guts)

Entry to the race is free. Participants may purchase a unisex 50/50 race shirt for $15 plus tax. All race proceeds will go to local cross country teams and to the Friends of Nebo.

Course and logistics

The race starts at the Sunset Point parking lot on Mt. Nebo and follows marked trails that include the 3C trail, Sunset connector, Lizard Tail, Rim trail to Sunrise Point, Sunrise connector, Bench trail, Miller’s Goat, Ox Pull, and the Chickalah loop (20-mile course). Route notes in the description include a seasonal waterfall on Lizard Tail, multiple overlooks, and specific trail segments: roughly 1 mile on Lizard Tail, about 4 miles on Miller’s (with a water stop), and 1.7 miles down Ox Pull. Aid stations are located approximately every 4-6 miles. The course includes rocky trail surfaces and significant climbs; it may take longer than a typical road half marathon.
