Hare Mountain 100

The Hare Mountain 100 is a 100 mile point to point trail run on the Ozark Highlands Trail in northwestern Arkansas, run on the Boston Mountain segment. The event covers roughly 100 miles of rocky, steep and rugged hardwood, cedar and pine forests and includes two scenic spur loops. Hare Mountain is the highest point on this trail at about 2400 feet.

The course passes creek crossings, waterfalls, bluffs, sandstone outcrops, and areas known for fall color and wildlife. Trail marking uses white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs, but turns can be missed and fallen trees or weather can obscure the way. Runners should be prepared for long stretches without major aid - some gaps are approximately 12 miles - and must be self sufficient with navigation and safety gear.

A satellite GPS tracker and the course GPX on a phone are required for the 100 mile race; trackers will be checked at check-in. Measured elevation gain ranges between 20,000 and 24,400 feet depending on device and mapping method. Runners are allowed 38 hours to complete the course; if a runner clears the final aid station at Salt Fork before the cutoff but reaches the finish after 38 hours, they are still recorded as an official finisher.

Aid station GPS coordinates, directions, and detailed section maps are provided for competitors. The race is cupless; reusable cups are issued to runners who do not bring one. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
