Cat's Back Fell Race

Craswall, United Kingdom • 11 Oct 2026

Cat's Back Fell Race / Ras Crib y Garth

The Cat's Back Fell Race takes place on a classic ridge of the Black Mountains, starting from Mountain Mayhem's base at Tybubach Farm in Craswall. The course is approximately 11.7 km / 492 m (about 7.3 mi / 1614 ft) and follows footpaths through farmland and pockets of woodland before reaching the ridge at the Cat's Back car park.

From the ridge runners traverse open fell terrain around Black Hill, make a diagonal ascent to the summit for a quick dip at the trig, then descend along the old red sandstone ridgeline back to the start field. Some sections are rocky and technical; full kit must be carried and appropriate fell shoes should be worn.

The event is run under WFRA rules, Category AS / PM. The course will be partially marked and marshalled by volunteers from Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, and a donation will be made to Longtown MRT from race proceeds. Fabian 4 chip timing will be used.

The venue is The Cattle Barn, Mountain Mayhem, Tybubach Farm, Craswall HR2 0PH. Car parking, toilets, showers, and refreshments are available at the event centre. Minimum age is 16; there are no junior races. Dogs are not permitted. The race starts and finishes on private property and recce runs must remain on public footpaths. All competitors run at their own risk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
