Cat's Back Fell Race

Craswall, United Kingdom • 11 Oct 2026

Cat's Back Fell Race

The Cat's Back is an 11.7 km fell race with approximately 492 m of ascent. The route climbs steeply on footpaths through farmland and pockets of woodland to the base of the ridge at the Cat’s Back car park. From there runners traverse open fell around Black Hill, then follow a diagonal ascent to the summit for a quick dib at the trig before a fast descent along the old red sandstone ridgeline back to the start field.

Some ground is rocky and technical; the event is not suitable for novice fell runners. The course is partially marked and full kit must be carried. Appropriate fell shoes are required. The race organiser can advise on the skills and experience expected.

The event is part of the South Wales Series and is insured by the Welsh Fell Runners Association. Male and female course records were set in 2025 at 49:19 and 1:01:35 respectively. Minimum age for entry is over 16.

Facilities at the event centre include car parking, toilets, showers and refreshments. Entry is online only at a fee of £12; no entries on the day are available. The location is The Cattle Barn, Tybubach Farm, Craswall HR2 0PH. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
