Cat's Back Fell Race (Ras Crib y Garth)

The Cat's Back Fell Race is scheduled for Sunday 11th October 2026. The course is approximately 11.7 km with 492 m of ascent (about 7.3 mi / 1614 ft). The published entry fee is £12.

The event is based at Mountain Mayhem, Tybubach Farm, Craswall, HR2 0PH. The event centre provides car parking, toilets, showers and refreshments.

The route starts in the Monnow Valley from the Mountain Mayhem base, climbing steeply on footpaths through farmland and woodland to the Cat's Back car park. Runners then traverse open fell around Black Hill, make a diagonal ascent to the summit with a dib at the trig, and descend along the old red sandstone ridgeline back to the start field. Some ground is rocky and technical.

Full kit must be carried and appropriate fell shoes should be worn. The course will be partially marked and marshalled by volunteers from Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, and a donation will be made to Longtown MRT. Fabian 4 chip timing will be used. The race is held under WFRA rules, Category AS PM. Minimum age is 16; there are no junior races. No dogs are permitted. The race starts and finishes on private property and any recce runs must stick to public footpaths. All competitors run at their own risk.
