Suffolk County Marathon
The Suffolk County Marathon is a multi-day running event held in New York. The schedule features a 5k family trail run and walk, as well as a 1k kids fun run on Saturday. These Saturday events start and finish at Gardiner County Park in Bay Shore.
On Sunday, the event continues with a 10k, half marathon, and full marathon. These races start in the Village of Babylon and conclude at Gardiner County Park. The half marathon and marathon courses include a crossing of the Robert Moses Causeway. For participants interested in multiple distances, several combination options are available, such as participating in the 5k on Saturday followed by a longer distance on Sunday.
The event has specific pace requirements for the longer distances:
- Full marathon participants must maintain a 15-minute mile pace and reach the 13-mile mark by 10:50 a.m.
- Half marathon participants must maintain an 18-minute mile pace.
Athletes who do not meet these time cut-offs will be transported back to the start line. All finishers in every category receive a finisher medal. The race does not allow pets or baby joggers on the course.
A virtual mission is also available throughout October, allowing participants to track miles through running, walking, swimming, or cycling to support veterans' services. Since its inception, the event has raised over $1,000,000 for local veterans.
