The Castlewellan Christmas Cracker takes place on Saturday 27 December 2025 at Castlewellan GAC, 21 Circular Road, Castlewellan, Co Down, BT31 9ED. The course is approximately 8.5 miles on roads, fields and forest tracks in and around Castlewellan. The event is a two-person team race. Entry is limited to 750 teams. Entry fees are listed as £40.00 per team. Entries open on 29 September 2025 and close on 26 December 2025.
Rules and facilities
All runners must be 16 or older. Each team will receive two race numbers labelled A and B; the number for runner A includes a barcode that will be scanned at the finish to calculate results. All finishers receive a medal. Cash prizes are awarded to the first three teams in Men, Women and Mixed categories. Additional cash prizes are offered for the first team outside the top three in combined-age categories: 80-99, 100-119, 120-139 and 140+. Spot prizes are given for best fancy dress. Soup and a roll are provided after the race at the Community Centre opposite the GAA Club. No bottled water is provided at the finish. No entries are taken on race day. No dogs, headphones or prams are allowed. Changing facilities and showers are available. Refunds less a 20% admin charge are possible up to 24 December.
