The Castlewellan Christmas Cracker is scheduled for Saturday 27 December 2025 in and around Castlewellan. The course is approximately 8.5 miles and uses roads, fields and forest tracks. Registration is at Castlewellan GAC, 21 Circular Road, Castlewellan, Co Down, BT31 9ED. There is a mid-race cut-off at about the 4-mile point for safety. The event has an entry limit of 750 teams.

Entry and race format

The event is entered as teams of two. Both team members must cross the finish line together. Each team receives two race numbers labelled A and B; runner A’s number has a barcode that is scanned to calculate results. All runners must be at least 16 years old. No entries are taken on race day. When the event is full new entries are placed on a waiting list and payment is not taken until a place is offered.

Prizes and facilities

All finishers receive a medal. Cash prizes are awarded to the first three teams in Men, Women and Mixed categories, plus cash prizes for first teams outside the top three in combined-age categories. Spot prizes are given for best fancy dress. Soup and rolls are provided after the race at the Community Centre opposite the GAA club. Changing facilities and showers are available.
