Castlewellan Christmas Cracker

The Castlewellan Christmas Cracker is scheduled for 27 December 2025 at Castlewellan GAC, 21 Circular Road, Castlewellan, Co Down, BT31 9ED. The course is approximately 8.5 miles on roads, fields and forest tracks in and around Castlewellan. Registration takes place at Castlewellan GAC. The event has an entry limit of 750 teams and all runners must be 16 or older.

Race format, entries and facilities

The race is a pairs team event. Each team must consist of two runners and both must cross the finish together. Race numbers are issued at registration and are labelled A and B; the barcode on runner A is used to calculate results. Entry is online only and the pair fee is £40. The event page indicates the race is full and new entries will be placed on a waiting list.

All finishers receive a medal. Cash prizes are offered for the first three teams in Men, Women and Mixed categories, and additional cash prizes are available for first teams outside the top three in combined-age bands (80-99, 100-119, 120-139 and 140+). There are spot prizes for best fancy dress. Soup and rolls are provided after the race at the Community Centre opposite the GAA club.
