Bude Lifeboat Run 2026

The Bude Lifeboat Run is an evening multi-race event organised by Bude RATs in aid of the RNLI. All surplus monies raised go to the RNLI; after the previous event the organisers presented a cheque for £8,032.09. The event also notes anniversaries for local lifeboat services and RNLI lifeguards.

Races take place around Bude using the cycleway, canal towpath and off-road footpaths. Chip timing is used for all races. Race headquarters is at Bude Rugby Club, Bencoolen Meadow, Bude EX23 8QG. Parking is available at The Crescent Car Park EX23 8LE with additional overspill parking at Wharf and Neetside; parking fees may apply. First aid cover is provided by RNLI Lifeguards. Facilities on the evening include showers, a bar, a BBQ and RNLI souvenirs.

Distances

  • 6 mile senior race for those aged 15 and above
  • 1 mile junior races for those aged 15 and under, split by school years

The senior race is limited to 500 places and the event features individual, age category and team prizes. A Schools Trophy is awarded to the school with the highest proportion of entries as a percentage of pupils. As part of the Cornwall Multi-Terrain series, personal audio devices such as MP3 players are banned and may lead to disqualification. A 12 mile off road run across the Clovelly Estate on 3 May 2026, organised by RNLI Events. The course features steep hills and views, tickets are shown from £33.22 to £38.62 and the event is for 18 plus.

A five mile multi terrain race around the Boconnoc Estate near Lostwithiel on 6 May 2026. Organised by East Cornwall Harriers, the event uses paths, woodland and road and offers free field parking.

Trail races at Roadford Lake on 16 May 2026 offer 10.5 km and 5 km laps, with a half marathon run as two laps of the longer course. Kids races for ages 3 to 11 allow adults to run free and entries include chip timing and a finisher medal.

A fell running event at Meldon Reservoir featuring a five mile senior race climbing 1,362 ft to High Willhays and return, plus junior races over 2 km and 4 km. The course requires self navigation and includes compulsory checkpoints.
