Bude Lifeboat Run and Junior Run
The Bude Lifeboat Run and Junior Run is an evening event held in Bude, based at the Bude Rugby Club. This edition marks the 17th year of the race, which raises funds for the RNLI. The event features multiple race distances catering to different ages:
- 6 miles (Senior race for participants aged 15 and above)
- 1 mile (Junior race for School Year 4 and above)
- 1 mile (Junior race for School Year 3 and under)
The 6 mile senior race follows a route that includes Bude’s cycleway, canal towpath, and various off-road footpaths. This race is part of the Cornwall Multi-Terrain Race Series. The 1 mile junior races are held on a single-lap course utilizing the cycleway and canal towpath.
All participants will be timed using a chip timing system. Race headquarters are located at Bencoolen Meadow, and registration is available on the day starting in the late afternoon. Parking is situated at The Crescent Car Park, which is a short walk from the headquarters, with additional overspill parking available at the Wharf and Neetside locations.
The senior event is limited to 500 participants and has reached capacity in previous years. In adherence to Cornwall Multi-Terrain series rules, personal audio devices and MP3 players are prohibited to ensure the safety of all participants and the ability to hear instructions from marshals.
A special Schools Trophy is awarded during the junior events to the school with the highest participation rate relative to its total number of pupils. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
