HOURGLASS

Hourglass is a last person standing running event held on 27th June 2026 in and around the Royal Cornwall Events Centre. The race consists of repeated 2 mile laps on a generally flat course that mixes tarmac and grass and includes twists and turns.

The event format gives each lap a decreasing time limit. Runners begin with a longer allowance for the first lap and each subsequent lap reduces by one minute. A competitor who does not finish a lap within the allocated time is eliminated. Reaching an 18 minute lap corresponds to 13 completed laps, the equivalent of a marathon; completing further laps moves into ultra distances. Prizes are awarded to the last remaining male and female runners and to second and third place finishers.

Facilities on site include food and beverage outlets, use of an onsite hall with toilets and showers, and massage services available before, during, or after the event. All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Event T shirts and hoodies can be pre ordered for collection at the event and a small number will be available to buy on the day. Organisers will advise nearer the event about likely underfoot conditions and recommended footwear. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
