Talan's Notorious Trail

Talan's Notorious Trail is an endurance running event held at Widemouth Bay near Bude. The race is organized by Bude Rats Run and Tri under a UK Athletics race license. Participants navigate a 5 mile looped course that starts near the Bay View Inn. The route overlooks Widemouth Bay, follows a nature trail to the Wier, and returns along the Bude canal.

The event offers several timed endurance options and a shorter run for younger participants:

  • 24 Hour (Solo, Pair, or Team)
  • 12 Hour (Solo, Pair, or Team)
  • 6 Hour (Solo, Pair, or Team)
  • Cub Fun Run

Participants in the 6, 12, or 24 hour categories must be at least 20 years old. Runners can choose to enter as solo competitors, in pairs, or as part of a larger team. Because the course includes three small sections of public road, standard headphones are prohibited for safety reasons, though bone-conducting headphones are permitted.

Registration includes camping from Friday night through to Monday morning in a field adjacent to the Bay View Inn. The camping access covers the competitor, one additional adult, and children under the age of 16. Surplus funds from the event are donated to Talan’s Trust to support research into childhood cancers and provide services for affected siblings and teenagers.
